Karishma Kapoor, the granddaughter of Raj Kapoor and daughter of Randhir and Babita is celebrating her birthday along with her family and friends in London, amidst the rumours of her possible re-marriage sometimes soon.
Karishma is the elder daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita who was born on June 25, 1974. Her mother named her ‘Lolo’ after the famous Hollywood actress Gina Lollobrigida. She has one younger sister Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Karisma entered the Bollywood industry in defiance of long traditions of her clan that no women work in the movies. Her passion made her one of the most illuminating stars of the yesteryears. It is said that Karisma dropped out of school soon after she entered the sixth standard to pursue acting. Prem Qaidi was her first movie when she was just sixteen.
Karisma has acted in lead roles in about 50 films. Almost all of them have been super hits. During her career span, she has emerged as a trendsetter.
Karisma got the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her legendary movie– Dil To Pagal Hai in 1997. Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the film Raja Hindustani and Fiza were also awarded to her. Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for the film Zubeidaa was also bagged by her. She also competed for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the film Shakti.
Karisma was the hit Jodi with Ajay Devgn as well as Govinda. Films like Coolie No 1 and Hero No 1, made her on the top slot for a decade. Her association with Salman Khan was also acclaimed in a number of films.
