Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan starrer Badrinath ki Dulhania has been released and the audiences are hitting the theatres with great zeal. Shashank Khaitan has built his romantic beautifully around the lives of the central characters Vaidehi Trivedi (Alia Bhatt) and Badrinath Bansal (Varun Dhawan).
The story is basically about two young people falling in love who have completely different perspectives towards life and in turn wants different things from life. Set in the small town of the country, Jhansi and Kota, the movie prominently depicts the patriarchy system prevalent in our country. Badrinath, a tenth pass son of a rich business man and money lender is all grown up and his father is actively looking for his bride. At a wedding function, he spots Vaidehi, a damsel from Kota and falls in love with her.
All his attempts of wooing her into marrying him go in vain. Vaidehi is the small town girl with big dreams. She wishes for a career as an air hostess. The one social evil that she strongly opposes is the system of Dowry. She is a fierce, strong headed girl. Circumstances turn around and she agrees to marry Badri, however, on the day of the manager she runs away to pursue her dream of becoming an air hostess. The story, although, is on the same plot of boy meets girl; however, the freshness that is added is because of the strong willed character of Vaidehi.
Alia and Varun, like in their previous flick, Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania, impress us with their great acting skills. Unlike most of the commercial films these days, the movie had a very limited number of the songs which were well placed.
The movie might have some glitches here and there, however, it definitely is a weekend watch for all.
